MORE FLEXIBLE, MORE STABLE, MORE SPEED
Pfiffner increases the productivity of its rotary transfer machines through faster sawing.
The flexibility and stability of the AE 52/100 CNC sawing unit substantially increase productivity. The use of this powerful saw greatly reduces machining times while its high rigidity and wide speed range ensure precision cuts with outstanding surface quality. The new extended cutting gap also makes it possible to now use carbide and cermet saw blades. Make use of the benefits of the AE 52/100 CNC and boost the efficiency of your rotary transfer machine by up to 45 %.
Integrated sawing from bar | At Pfiffner, the ‘sawing from bar’ integrated directly into the machine is a central, expedient process in workpiece production. The sawing process often dictates the profitability of workpiece manufacture as it can determine the cycle time. For this reason, Pfiffner’s innovation department has focused heavily on the sawing process in recent years. From now on, a new fully-featured CNC saw is on offer and has already proven itself with several customers in the field as the ‘0 series’. Both the infeed axis and the swivel axis for the saw feed are equipped with CNC technology. |
---|---|
CNC-controlled Z-axis | The CNC-controlled Z-axis has several advantages. As the saw can be retracted after each cut, the rotary table is able to cycle earlier, as the saw is no longer in the rotation circle of the table when it is swivelled back. The saw cut position is also very easy to adjust for part families with different workpiece lengths. Another advantage is the practical approach to the home position, which provides more space for remaining piece separation or manual tool change. |
Saw blade clearance | A saw blade clearance with 2 mm of travel enables the saw blade to be cleared on both sides immediately after the cut. This allows saw blades made of hard materials such as cermet and carbide to be used for the sawing process, where the blade can be damaged if swivelled back without clearance. Saw blades with cermet are more suitable for higher speeds than HSS and means that fewer vibrations are transmitted to the overall Hydromat system. This also has a positive effect on other processing stations. |
---|---|
Sawing with cermet | If the saw is optimally matched, the service life of cermet saw blades is almost three times longer than that of HSS saw blades. This means that HSS blades have to be replaced and reground twice for the same service life. Consequently, cermet saw blades result in a much higher productivity. |
Product supplement
The AE 52/100 CNC sawing unit is a product supplement for the machine types HC 32-16, HC 45-12, HC 45-16 and HC 52-12. Pfiffner also offers a suitable solution for retrofitting on existing Hydromats. Further information on Pfiffner Hydromat HC machines
Vibration comparison of saws
When developing the saw, the company relied on technology proven in the field with a ‘0 series’. A series of measurements on several saws has shown that the new sawing principle saws around 45 % faster.
The vibration patterns of the individual saws are recorded for comparison purposes. On the new AE52/100 CNC operated with cermet and at higher speeds, there is a symmetrical vibration pattern as the blade works through the round workpiece. The vibration pattern looks much more undefined when machining with HSS saw blades. This difference becomes even more apparent with the first bar cut.
